MIRCLIFE
Help Pages

To come and chat with us you need to have an IRC client, such as mIRC. If you don't already have one, you can download a shareware version of mIRC from www.mirc.co.uk. Once you've got your IRC client, join #mIRCLife by connecting to the following chat server:

us.undernet.org:6667

Download Your IRC Client
In order to use IRC, you'll need to grab another piece of software called an IRC client, or program. One of the best, and by far the easiest to use, is mIRC from http://www.mirc.co.uk.

Are You a New User?
The first time you run mIRC, you will see a dialog box in which you should enter a few of your personal details. Enter your name and your email address in the appropriate spaces, and choose a nickname (or 'handle') by which you'll be known in the chat room. A nickname can be anything you choose - it might give an indication of your hobby, your job, a clue to your personality, or it might just be a meaningful gibberish, but it can't be more than nine characters in length. Finally, choose an UnderNet server from the list and click OK.

Now you're ready to connect and start chatting. Make sure you're connected to your service provider first (mIRC won't start the connection for you), and then click the yellow lightning-bolt button at the extreme left of the toolbar. As soon as you're connected, you'll see a small dialog box listing a collection of channels that Khaled Mardam Bey (mIRC's author) thought you might like to try, and of course you will find #mIRCLife in that list. Join  #mIRCLife by double-clicking on its list entry.

Some long-time IRC users can be a bit severe towards newcomers, however on #mIRCLife you're welcome to take your first faltering steps, and ask for any help as you go along. Chances are, there will be someone around to help you and answer your questions. Don't worry, you'll soon begin to feel at home in #mIRCLife.
